Vacation!

Well it looks like I won't be hearing any news before I go away for vacation for Memorial Day weekend.  I just wanted to make a quick post saying that I'll be away for a little bit, and hopefully when I return I'll have news to announce -who knows, though, right?

I'm looking forward to the vacation me and my boyfriend will be going on this weekend.  We'll be sure to take lots of pictures while we're away.  Until then, thanks to everyone who's been stopping in to keep up and I'm wishing you the best.  Enjoy your week!

A huge thank you for your patience!

It's been a while since I last posted, and I didn't want anyone to think I've been purposely neglecting the blog.  As you might have guessed I don't have any information on the sequel, but I did want to take the time to make this post and thank all of you for your patience.  I love my job as an author, and always my top priority is the next book to release to the world.  Though I don't have any news, I will catch you up on what else is happening.
Spring semester is officially over after my exam tonight, which means I will have more time to focus on my writing. It's one of the main reasons I look forward to the break because I can spend any free time I have writing -that's what I usually do anyways regardless, but this means more time.  With the second book I felt bad because I took a bit of a break after CWP released and didn't dive right into it, but with this third book I'm eager to get back to work.  The title and "mock" cover won't be revealed until after the second book's release. (I mentioned this earlier, but wanted to bring it back again just in case anyone forgot.)

As you can see I've been spending most of my nights returning home to work on the third book.  It is sad once again to change narrators, and Leal will be missed, but every new book in this series introduces a new narrator and I don't want that to change simply because I've grown attached to previous ones.  I'll talk more specifically about the narrator for book #3 when the title and other information is revealed, but I hope it gives you something to look forward to.

I will try to update again before next week, since I will be traveling up to Deep Creek and will have no internet access while I'm there.  Again, thank you to everyone who has been so patient with the release of the sequel, and hopefully before or after my vacation I will have news to share!

Coming soon: A cover reveal with a fabulous prize!

The upcoming sequel to Cursed With Power, Shadows and Embers, is still awaiting an official release date for publication, but it’s coming very soon. In the mean time remember to show your support and help spread the word!
Like everyone else, I am waiting on news about the upcoming sequel. I assure you that from my end the wait seems to be dragging on.  When it comes to my book I tend to think ahead about the near future, and once Shadows and Embers is set for publication there will be a cover reveal.  I realize it's hard to remember what happened eight months ago -I'm lucky if I remember what happened yesterday-but when Cursed With Power came out I didn't have a huge cover reveal.  I mostly just posted the cover on all of my social media networks.
Now that I've learned from my first experience, I want to have a cover reveal.  I am aware some of you have already expressed interest, but for those of you who were thinking "Eh, why should I?" I have an answer for you.
When we have the cover reveal for Shadows and Embers there will also be a prize for whoever pulls off the best reveal.  If you present it really went, impress me, maybe even attract some attention you definitely deserve something for that.  Whoever pulls off the best cover reveal will win a free signed copy of the book.  (If you would prefer e-book this is also a possibility.)  By the time the cover is revealed the book will still be awaiting release, but if you win the book you'll get your copy as soon as the book releases!  Keep in mind that even if you don't win there is still a big giveaway coming up, joining together both Cursed With Power and Shadows and Embers, and plus the cover reveal will help spread the word about the book.

So while we're still waiting on news, I just wanted to share that idea quickly and when the date is closer there will be more details about it.
And before I go, one last piece of news....
Baltimore Bookfest Logo
I have officially been accepted to attend as an author at the Baltimore Book Festival.  This is a huge event in Maryland; last year John Greene was there -and sadly I didn't attend and regret that decision.  I was surprised when I saw the email this morning and they told me I had been accepted. This event isn't until September 27th and lasts till the 29th.   Since it's such a big event and there are so many authors, each author can only attend one day. I will have more specific details about the date I will be attending and where my tent will be located, but I am really looking forward to the festival and if you live in/near the MD area I hope you'll consider stopping by!  As always, I will have copies of Cursed With Power available for purchase and signing, and/or if you bring your own copy I'll sign that for you.  There will also be bookmarks, business cards, and such at my table.  I'm not certain if I can bring the second book as well, but I'll contact the person in charge and find out.
Regardless, I'm excited and hoping this will be great exposure for Cursed With Power.  I'll bring along a camera and take pictures as well.  Hope to see you there!

Awaiting #2 release and celebrating 8 months of publication

Eight months ago Cursed With Power was released out into the world.  It was both scary and exciting, but I've always remembered that day.  It was back in September, which was a very eventful month for me back then.  A few weeks later after my book was released I started dating my boyfriend, Eric, who you'll always see with me at any book signings if you attend.  I never realize how much time has passed until I actually look through the pictures -which is part of the reason why I like taking pictures with the book when the anniversary comes around, even if it seems ridiculous.  It's interesting to see that over eight months so much has happened, and while the book is progressing with sales and so forth I too am changing and looking to the future.  In that aspect I feel even closer to the book because I'm able to watch it grow and become something great while I at the same time grow.

So far I have heard no word from my publisher about the second book, though there is no need to be alarmed.  Usually it takes about 14-28 days for a publisher to read through the manuscript and make a final decision, so unfortunately all we can do is wait.  As soon as I heard any news I will report it.  I realize I have been talking about a spring release, and here it is already the second week of May.  In all reality I do have to face that facts, and even if my publisher emailed me tomorrow with the "okay" it takes time to prepare the book for release.  A cover needs to be designed, the formatting has to be prepared for paperback, and the list goes on.  As much as I would like to hold onto the belief that we'll have a spring release, it has occurred to me that at this point it will most likely not be until June -at the earliest-for the book to release.
I originally planned for Shadows and Embers to release six months after CWP, but as you can see time was not a friend of mine during this process.   It took me all six months since CWP's release to write and complete the sequel, and so the timing of all of this I admit was my fault.  Even so, I'm not entirely disappointed; I wanted the story to have even more to offer than the first book, and I don't want anyone to be left feeling like there could have been more.  No matter how long it takes, all of this is to ensure that you, the reader, gets the most out of the book.
Fortunately since the second book is in my publisher's hands I have been able to focus on the third book.  I have decided on a title and main character, both of which I am attempting not to reveal until the sequel has released.  (I'm not good at keeping secrets like this, but I want you to have something to look forward to after the sequel has come out.)  There is also a beautiful "mock" cover I have ready for book 3, but again this will all come later on.  I have begun outlines, and though nothing is solid at the moment I have a lot of ideas for the book and am looking forward to the challenge.

Again I hope you can all bear with me as we await the release of the upcoming book.  I will continue to keep you update with the progress, and if I don't have any progress to report I might share something about the sequel or what would be of interest.  The giveaway won't be happening until the release of book #2 at this book -that way I can give away materials both relating to CWP and Shadows and Embers.

Cover reveal for DANNY by Margo Anne Rhea

As the publicist for this book, it brings me great pleasure to finally reveal the cover for Margo Anne Rhea's upcoming book,  Danny.  The book is set to release May 20th, and with the release right around the corner the blog is on its way.  If you're interested in participating in the tour, email me or leave a comment.

About the Book:
Paige Warren is sure she’s come to terms with her impending divorce, until she wakes up in bed with her soon-to-be ex, Danny. Worse yet, the bed belongs to Stacey, the sexual surrogate Paige and Danny have been sleeping with for months -- and Stacey’s not there.

As much as Paige tries to deny it, she soon realizes she’s still in love with Danny. Now she’s torn between him and the woman who holds them together. Should she risk hurting Stacey to rekindle a monogamous relationship with the man she once thought she’d spend the rest of her life with, or should she learn from past experience?

Danny is a sensual, erotic novella following one woman's struggle between a love she thought was over and a relationship that's barely begun.

About the Author:
Margo is a marketing specialist by day, and a writer of erotic romance by night. When she's not busy penning steamy fantasies, she can be found man-watching on the beach. She is a lover of shiny things and an avid collector of shoes, but her heart will always belong to books.

If it sounds like something you'd like to read, you can already add it to your list on Goodreads.  Until then remember the release is only a few weeks away!

Off to the publisher!

It has been a busy, busy week and the chaos has not come to an end, but I do have exciting news to share.  I managed to spare the time today to run through the last edits for my book, and at least it has been sent off to my publisher.  Now it's all a matter of waiting... and checking my email nonstop... occasionally.
I realize for those of you who have been finished with Cursed With Power for quite some time now this is a relief, and believe me I'm right there with you.  This second book took seven months to write and finally have ready for publication.  It has not been an easy process, but hopefully once we're working toward release it will be less stressful.  With the book out of the way, I'll have more time to focus on the giveaway that's coming up and promos I can share before the release.  I will mention now that the giveaway is most likely going to be held off until the second book releases; this way I can giveaway materials relating to CWP and Shadows and Embers. (The recent change in title is still something I am trying to become accustomed to.)

Most likely you will be seeing a lot more of Ian Somerhalder -he's the man in the promo picture at the top if you don't recognize him-as I promote this book.  We all can use some more Somerhalder in our life, and I think he does justice for Leal's character when I need a face to match the name.
There is so much we have to look forward to.  The second book is on its way to publication, the third book is on its way to being produced, and the fourth book...  oh phew, don't have to worry about that one for a while. *wipes away sweat*  Now unfortunately I still have a lot of work at hand -with all of my jobs and so forth-but I promise my next post will have some lovely surprises in it.  We can now talk more about what's to come in the second book and where we're going next.  And remember if you're particularly excited about Leal's return, don't be afraid to spread the word.  You can tweet about the release of the second book on Twitter using #LealReturns2013.  I will be using this hashtag as often as I can when talking directly about the sequel, and it would be a wonderful way to help spread the word.
If you're interested in participating in the cover reveal, let me know!
What I regret not doing with Cursed With Power is having a cover reveal, as I have seen so many other authors do.  With that said, we're not going to make the same mistake twice.  If you're interested in helping reveal the cover for Shadows and Embers please notify me somehow -email, Facebook, Twitter, or just simply leave a comment here on the blog.  Whether your blog is popular or not, every little bit helps!  Obviously I don't have the cover yet, but once I get the okay from my publisher and start speaking with the graphics designer at our company it will be set in progress.  Everyone's encouraged to join in on this!

As you can see I have a lot of ideas floating around in my head -all of which I doubt are following in the right order.  I'll try to keep this blog updated as often as I can, and please expect to see more promos.  As you can expect, there will be teasers, excerpts and more as we arrive closer to a release date.  Also if you like the CWP page on facebook you can expect daily updates on there as well.
And while you're waiting for the sequel, don't forget about Celestria's story.  Read the book today, or share it with a friend.
Can't wait for more news!  A huge thank you to everyone who has been supportive and continues to support the series.

Leal's comeback and BookFestPA 2013

Decided to change the title of the upcoming sequel to Cursed With Power.  As you might recall it was originally titled Punished With Destiny, but this new change in title should be permanent unless my publisher decides otherwise.Cover is NOT official.  Credit to model
I've been hesitant about revealing the new and permanent title for the upcoming sequel that's releasing this spring because I wanted to be positive it was here to stay before I announced it.  Over these past six months I've been writing the sequel, and honestly the title "Punished With Destiny" never really stood out to me.  Now that the book is finally finished and I'm focusing on publication, I had to decide if the title was what I wanted to see in print.  And it wasn't.  I apologize in advance that this might take some time to get used to, seeing as I've been saying the title for the book is PWD for so long, but I feel much more confident with this new one.  Darkness and light are a big part of the Magicians series, and I feel like this title really shows that.  It can be interrupted in numerous different ways, and I think it also gives it a bit more mystery.  The new title is Shadows and Embers, and that is the title I will be presenting to my publisher.
Currently I'm running through edits before I send it to my published to make sure everything's in the right place, but after that we can focus on Leal's comeback.  I am still planning the giveaway, and I apologize in advance that I have no idea when we will start on it.  I have to decide whether to do it before or after the release of Shadows and Embers, but it's coming very soon I can promise you that.

In other news, we have a very exciting event coming up.  I have been accepted to BookFestPA this year and will be attending the event as an author.  I'll be sharing a tent with another author -I don't know who yet-but I'm very excited about this.  This is the first event we've had for Cursed With Power in a couple months.  BookFestPA is July 13th from 10am to 5pm in State College, PA.  I live in Maryland, so for me (and my boyfriend who always accompanies me) it'll be a three hour trip just to get there.  If you think you'll be near the area or can make the trip there I would love for you to come out and support the authors who are attending.  So far the official list for the 2013 authors hasn't been listed on their site, but they're working to update it, and I'll post something when it goes up.
Since the event isn't until July, I'm also hoping that Shadows and Embers will have already been released by then.  I'll have copies of both Cursed With Power and the sequel -though I can't guarantee the sequel just yet- available for purchase, and as always I'll be signing copies.  If you already own a copy of CWP please bring it a long, and I'd be happy to sign it for you.  I will also have business cards, bookmarks, and some other goodies available at my table if you're interested.
I'll post all of the details again when the date is sooner approaching.  Until then we have a lot of work ahead and more to look forward to.  I'm back to editing and my work for Entranced Publishing, but hope everyone enjoys this wonderful weather we're having!

Upcoming Release: Leal's coming back!

Six months.  Six very long months of hard work, sweat, blood, and tears.  (Okay... maybe minus the blood unless we include characters who died.)  Six months, and at last I can say that the book is complete!  I'm several days late on announcing this exciting news, but now that I finally have the time to sit down and put some time into this post I want to share and catch you up.
Punished With Destiny, sequel to Cursed With Power, is complete at approximately 90,000 words.  (That's 10k more than CWP!)  On Thursday (the 28th) we didn't have power for a few hours, so instead of my usual morning routine which consists of watching Bones before starting the day I literally sat down and typed on my computer until at last I reached the end.  When I did this I still had about three or four chapters left, but I suppose the focus and determine really helped me reach the finish line.
I have to admit it feels really good to be done writing the book.  CWP only took a few months to actually finish writing, but this second book took so much more time.  I think a lot of that was because this is a direct sequel, and I was trying my hardest not to make the same mistakes all over again.  More importantly, I didn't want to let the fans down.  Now mind you "the end" doesn't mean everything's set and written in stone, but I have a few more knots to tie before this book is sent off to my publisher.  At this point I'm working so that it will release in May.

Looking back, it's crazy to think that only six months ago Cursed With Power was released out into the huge publishing world.  Though I started this sequel directly after the release of CWP, I'll admit I was a bit hesitant and scared to leave behind Celestria and have to start all over with a new character.  Regardless of what happens to the main characters, I've made it so that each book tells a different and unique story into the life of a Dark magician.  Now that I have completed the book I'm glad the narration changed and I accepted the challenge because so much has changed since CWP, and I hope the positive shines brightly in this upcoming book.
What's coming next for Leal and you?!
That's right ladies, Leal will be coming to you very soon.  As I said everything is still in motion for a spring release.  We're going to have a fabulous giveaway and so much more coming up; I'm still in the process of gathering everything together.   The cover reveal, teasers, excerpts, and more are on there way... And I know that there's still a bit more waiting ahead, but we've made it past the most difficult part now and from here it's all a matter of bringing everything together.

Hopefully if time (and life) permits I'll be able to post again on Tuesday, or if not at least sometime during this week.  Life has been a bit hectic, seeing as I've started my new job as publicist with Entranced Publishing while still managing my other job and school...and this book... and the other book.. Well, you get the point.  Keep checking in for more exciting details!
Oh, and if you want to talk about the upcoming sequel, remember to use "#LealReturns2013" on Twitter!  I'll be promoting that hashtag more when we have a release date set.
